  1. How many posts on my blog until I guest post?

I actually only had a few posts up on our blog before reaching out to someone for a guest post. This was a mid-sized blog a couple of steps above our own, and I think that you can absolutely pitch with less posts published on your own blog than most pe…

Hi Brandon. This is awesome advice! I’ve been having some great discussions with marketing colleagues about this exact topic – guest blogging and content syndication. It’s also interesting because you really have to balance the content that you post to your own blog and share vs. the original content that you agree to write for other blogs. It can be challenging to find time to do both! Have you found this to be a challenge?

    • Oooo good question, Renay! Yes, that balance can be difficult BUT most weeks I get to dedicate a large portion of my workhours to blog activities, so that helps. Even so, it can be difficult to find the time for everything, especially when I don’t want to publish anything I don’t think is some of my best work.

That said, I want to prioritize guest blogging more in the future, even if it means only doing 2 posts instead of 3 for this blog in a week, etc. I’ve actually seen people suggest that you write a guest post for every one of your own, which could be a breakneck pace but probably a good idea for fully leveraging the technique. One cool side-effect of writing more I’ve noticed is that it becomes easier to come up with new ideas each time. For example, doing the work to secure this guest post made it really easy for me to come up with an interesting and helpful case study for our own blog here after it was published – two birds with one stone, in a way!

Thanks for the comment and I hope we see you back; have a good rest of your week!

(P.S. I also noticed your follow on Inbound and have followed ya back (; ).
